7.Sports and Leisure Facilities

Within the company there is a strong interest in a wide variety of sports. Michael Punch himself has a keen interest in many different sporting events. Subsequently, the company can boast a large and broad based portfolio of sporting and leisure facilities. Completed projects vary from horse racing facilities, playing fields for various games including hurling and Gaelic football and rugby.

The experience and capabilities Michael Punch and Partners staff encompass the full range of consulting services from conceptual design through final design and construction supervision. We have particular expertise in the construction of swimming pools for schools and hotels. We are familiar with the specialist requirements involved in the construction. Careful specification is required for structural elements due to the aggressive nature of the environment for these facilities.

We are particularly proud of our achievements at Gormanstown Sport Arena in County Meath. It was completed in the early 1990s and is hailed as one of the premier sports facilities in any second level education establishment in Ireland. The main hall spans 50m and can facilitate a full indoor running track should the need arise.

Our excellence in civil, structural and drainage engineering allows us to expand our sports facility work to pitch construction. For example we are currently completing sand carpet pitches at a number of locations including the Institutes of Technology in Limerick and Letterkenny.
