Sinead
Kennedy Regional Director - Limerick Office.
Sinead Kennedy graduated from UCD in 1994. Following a year working as a site engineer, Sinead joined Michael Punch &
Partners in 1996, as a design engineer working on both structural and civil engineering projects.
Sinead joined the Environment Department of Limerick County Council in 2001, working in both waste legislation
implementation, enforcement and also as landfill engineer. Sineads period as landfill engineer co-incided with the
Planning Approval, Compulsory Purchase and Licence Application for the extension to the landfill site at Gortadroma.
Sinead attended Joint Monitoring Committee Meetings with the Residents Group monthly and represented Limerick County
Council at the Public Consultation Meetings for the landfill extension. Sinead also attended the Oral Hearing for the
project on behalf of Limerick County Council.
Sinead returned to Michael Punch & Partners in 2005 as Senior Engineer and was promoted to Regional Director in 2007.
Sinead has worked on a diverse range of projects during her career including Aula Maxima and Auditorium buildings at
Limerick Institute of Technology, Riverside Retail Park, Limerick, City East Plaza, Limerick and Limerick Northern
Relief Road, Phases 3 and 4.
Sinead has continued her emphasis on waste infrastructure and is working with Mr. Binman Ltd. on four of their waste
processing sites. Sineads involvement in these projects has included advice prior to purchase and has continued to
regulation of the sites and expansion proposals for MBT processes.
Sinead is currently working on the development proposals for the former racecourse at Dock Road, Limerick. This
50 hectare site currently has planning for a stadium, housing development, landfilling with several additional
projects in the planning process currently for additional residential development. The site operates under a current
waste permit and under 2007 Regulations a waste licence application has also been lodged for the site. The site includes
a lagoon which caters for the surface water run-off from the Ballinacurra Courtbrack Area with the main surface and
foul infrastructure for the site already constructed.
Sinead, on behalf of MPP, is a member of the Treaty Design Team, who prepared the Masterplan for the
Southill / Ballinacurra Weston Regeneration Area of the Limerick Regeneration. The Design Team included
4 architectural practices and MPP provides advice on servicing, flooding risk and sustainability issues
for the site. Treaty Design Group worked with BRE Ireland on the sustainability issues and BRE prepared an
audit of the scheme following the masterplan completion, where the scheme received favourable results.
