Leonard
Brennan Associate Director - Dublin Office.
Leonard graduated from University College Dublin (UCD) in 1990 and began his career with McCarthy & Partners in Dublin
(now Atkins) as a Design Engineer in Civils and Structures working on projects including the N4 Longford By-Pass and
Tara Mines Industrial Buildings. In 1994 Leonard joined Michael Punch & Partners as a Senior Design Engineer in Civils
and Structures. In 2001 he was appointed Associated Director in Civil Engineering and in 2005 he was promoted to Regional
Director in Civil Engineering.
Leonard has worked on a diverse range of residential and commercial and infrastructural projects during his career
including Wexford Decentralisation Offices, Tesco Clearwater Shopping Centre, Herbert Park Offices and Apartments and
Great Connell Business Park in Newbridge. Leonards most significant project has been the E1 billion Ballymun Regeneration
which he has worked on since its inception in 1998. As Area Engineer (Poppintree) for Ballymun Regeneration, he has
managed residential and community projects with up to 10 different Architectural practices at the same time. The sites
are usually infill or wrapped around other developments within a live urban quarter. The sites often have had severe
service constraints requiring temporary or phased infrastructure solutions. As a result Leonard has developed a thorough
understanding of the regeneration process and the seps required to masterplan and co-ordinate these complex projects.
Leonard is also the Environmental Manager for MPP and led the successful drive for the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental standard
which MPP achieved in May 2006. Together with Terry Sheehan, Leonard heads up the Sustainability Centre of Excellence
(COE) group in Michael Punch & Partners. Our COEs are established with the aim of researching the latest developments
and trends in a particular area of work, so that we can provide a service that is second to none to our Clients. MPP are
currently working on a number of residential and retail developments where the Building Research Establishment
Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) is adopted to ensure best practice environmental performance is targeted on the
project. These projects include Limerick Regeneration Project, Beacon South Quarter Development in Sandyford and Scotch
Hall Development in Drogheda.
Leonard is a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland and also holds a Diploma in Highway and Geotechnical Engineering
from Trinity College Dublin.
