Emma McKendrick Regional Director - Limerick Office.
Emma McKendrick joined Michael Punch & Partners in 2006 as a Senior Engineer and was promoted to Regional Director in
2007. Prior to that Emma spent 16 years in Scotland working for a number of Consulting Civil and Structural Engineering
Practices including 7 years with Babtie Group (now part of the Jacobs Group).
Prior to joining Michael Punch & Partners Emma worked on a diverse range of Civil Engineering projects. Projects
included design of 123 acre Landfill Site in South Lanarkshire, design and construction of a waste/container handling
facility in Dunbar, design and construction of various water/waste water treatment plants and reservoirs throughout
Scotland and assessment of existing reservoirs in Hong Kong and Malaysia. She also worked on various D&B Ministry of
Defence Projects in Northern Ireland.
Emma has extensive experience of Railway projects including inspection and assessment of Network Rail Structural Assets
including bridges and major station roofs. She was also involved in the Network Rail Station Regeneration and Structural
Maintenance Programme to refurbish and rationalise stations throughout Scotland.
In addition to inspection and assessment of Railway assets, Emma also has extensive experience in the inspection and
assessment of building structures ranging from reactor buildings at AEA Technology Dounreay to structural condition
surveys along the route of the new A82 Trunk Road.
Emma has completed a number of structural prestigious Scottish building designs/refurbishment projects, including
George Heriots School, Jenners, Glenkinchie Distillery, Eyemouth Fish Market and Airth Castle.
Since joining Michael Punch & Partners in 2006 Emma has primarily been involved in Civil Engineering projects with
particular expertise in Master planning, Sustainability, Infrastructure and Environmental projects. Projects completed
to date include: a 62,500m2 retail development at Coonagh Cross in Limerick which included major infrastructure works,
foul pumping station and 5500m3 storm water lagoon; preparing a Masterplan, obtaining planning permission and
construction of enabling works on a Greenfield site in Wexford to provide for 748 residential units, 60 bed room nursing
home, crèche and commercial element including supermarket, 9 retail units, restaurant and also office space; and
obtaining planning permission for a mixed leisure development in Co Clare comprising 18 hole championship golf course
with club house, equestrian centre, 30 bed apart hotel, banqueting facilities, wellness centre and circa 155 holiday
homes.
Given her experiences in Scotland Emma promotes the use of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems, rain water harvesting
and grey water recycling. She also has a particular experience in development and treatment of ground water supplies,
treatment of waste water to a standard that facilitates reuse for irrigation purposes and treatment of surface water
run-off from highways.
