The design of office buildings for both public and private firms forms a large portion of the work carried out by Michael Punch & Partners since its establishment in 1973. The structural solutions adopted for each project are unique to the
client requirements, the budget constraints and the available programme. The
use of prefabricated elements has become more common with the advent of short
programmes and many of the projects currently under development are utilising
steel or precast concrete frames.
Michael Punch & Partners recognise the value of in-situ concrete frames whereby
both the architectural and programme requirements can be met. The flexibility
offered by flat slabs in terms of partitions and services as well as reduce
floor to floor height are often the governing factors on developments such
as Embassy House in Ballsbridge. In-situ concrete is often the most appropriate
solution when naturally ventilated office buildings are required necessitating
the exposure of the concrete frame for night cooling. In conjunction with
the architect and by tight control of specifications concrete profiles can
be developed which reflect the structural needs of the floor plate but also
assist the passage of cool air across the surface.
The staff of Michael Punch & Partners approach challenges with energy, expertise
and a firm commitment to excellence. Our reputation for performance and quality
generates consistent client referrals and repeat business. We endeavour to
provide quality designs, technical expertise and economical and accurate construction
solutions.
